The objective of the game is to paint all the pipes in the maze as fast as possible, which would not be so hard if you did not have to avoid a number of irksome pests.
The most dangerous are the two sharks, minding their own business in two pools in the middle of the maze, until you come too close to them and make them enter the maze. They'll take every chance they get to eat your brush.
There are other pests who do not like the color of your brush and make everything to ruin your painting job, like the mice leaving their annoying little footsteps on the fresh paint.
The main challenge for you lies in the increasing speed and intelligence of these pests as you progress through the levels.
