New Version 1.1 Now Available!!
PDABomb is a robust security application that addresses an alarming need to protect the information stored on Palm OS personal digital assistant (PDA) devices. PDABomb provides an easy-to-use interface and flexible protection alternatives. PDABomb is the only comprehensive security product available for the Palm OS that locks down potential security holes. It disables any data transfer mechanisms such as HotSync® and IrDa, so that there is no way to retrieve information without a password. Your information is secure even if the device is reset.
The user can choose which databases they wish to encrypt. This includes both standard Palm OS application databases as well as third party application databases. The user can also choose from different encryption algorithms (fast or slow) and whether to encrypt only private records or all records.
The PDABomb user can also choose whether or not they wish to enable the ultimate protection by activating the "bomb." If the user activates the "bomb," they choose the number of password attempts permitted on their device. When a password is not successfully entered correctly in the given number of attempts, PDABomb will delete all data and applications on the PDA. If the user chooses not to activate the "bomb," they must still provide a password to gain access, however they will have unlimited attempts to enter the correct password.
PDABomb is intended for all PDA users. Anyone who stores any confidential data on their handheld device must have PDABomb. Please see http://www.pdabomb.com for more information.
PDABomb was developed by the Asynchrony Community. Asynchrony.com is a unique virtual community where members share ideas and form teams to collaborate on software projects. Asynchrony markets the finished software and gives the lion's share of revenues to the team members who create it.

Features:

| | | It prevents brute force attacks because it can limit the number of attempts to unlock the device. When the user exceeds the maximum number of attempts, PDABomb destroys all RAM databases without a user prompt (the "bomb").

| | | It inhibits unauthorized use of your PDA if it is lost or stolen by allowing you to set a "time bomb." The "bomb" can be set to go off automatically if your device is not HotSynced within a specified time frame.

| | | It provides an additional layer of protection by offering 128-bit encryption of any databases/information you store on your device.

| | | It protects a device even after a reset is attempted. On a locked device, PDABomb will be started even after a device reset, and the user will still have to provide a password to access the device.

| | | It disables any data transfer mechanisms such as HotSync and IrDA. It also prevents use of system shortcuts to access the Palm OS debugger.

| | | It doesn't store the actual password on a locked device, only an encrypted form of the password, using an MD5 hash.

| | | It erases the encryption key from the device after device is locked. The encryption key will be generated when user enters the correct password.

| | | It protects the security of your password by masking it as it is entered on the System Lockout screen. Passwords entered cannot be seen on the screen because all symbols are replaced with an '*' as the password is entered.

| | | It protects your device by locking it automatically after power-off without any user input (AutoLock feature). You can conveniently specify a time delay from one minute to three hours after a power-off before PDABomb locks your device (Delay AutoLock feature). After unlocking the device, you will be returned to the last running application.

|

 What's New!

 | | The "Delay AutoLock" option allows users to set a time delay after their device powers off and before PDABomb locks their device and encrypts the data. This saves the time and inconvenience of entering a password in the middle of a meeting, on a conference call, or in other similar situations.

| | | The program can optionally be set to bit-wipe the PDA if the device is not HotSynced within a user-specified amount of time. This option can erase all information before a thief can attempt to defeat the other security measures.

| | | Users have the option to display user information contained in the owner preferences so that if the device is lost the finder knows where to return the unit.
Also, version 1.1 offers:

| | | Access to Owner information page from the lockout screen

| | | Password can now be entered using Graffitti

| | | Detection of Hackmaster installation, forcing use of the AutoLock hack instead of the default locking mechanism when present

| | | Redesign of PDABomb setup screen to make options more accessible

| | | License key saved when PDABomb is backed up, so registered version is available after hard reset of device

| | | Beep on power-off is disabled when the AutoLock hack is used

| | | Improved interaction with other third-party locking applications
